We use 100% acrylic yarn for these crocheted totes — chosen because it holds its shape, resists fading, and is easy to care for. Unlike cotton yarn, acrylic does not stretch out with heavy use and dries quickly if it gets wet at the beach or pool. The wooden beads are sourced from sustainable beechwood, sanded smooth and sealed with a natural food-safe finish. Each bag is crocheted by hand by artisans in our Dongguan workshop — no machines, no mass production. The mesh pattern is a classic filet crochet stitch that creates an open, breathable structure while maintaining enough density to hold small items without them falling through.

How long does it take to crochet one bag by hand?
A skilled artisan needs about 3-4 hours to crochet one medium-sized mesh tote from start to finish. That includes the body, the strap weaving, and attaching the wooden bead handles. Because each bag is made by hand rather than machine, there are slight variations in stitch tension and bead placement — we see that as a feature, not a defect. For a 500-piece order, we assign 8-10 artisans working in parallel, which brings production to about 18-22 days. Larger orders (2000+ pieces) get a dedicated team and typically finish in 25-30 days.
Can I get a custom color not in your 22 stock options?
Yes. We stock 22 colors covering the basics — black, white, navy, grey, beige, plus seasonal tones like sage green, dusty rose, mustard yellow and terracotta. If you need a specific brand color, send us the Pantone code or a fabric swatch. We dye the acrylic yarn to match within a Delta E of 2.0 (industry standard for visual acceptability). Custom dyeing adds 3-5 days to sample development and requires a minimum of 500 pieces per color. There is no extra dyeing fee — the cost is built into the per-unit price. We recommend ordering a color sample card before committing to a full production run.
Are crocheted mesh bags durable enough for everyday use?
